Alexander Trailers boasts a varied list of clients, most of whom have one thing in common: a load-carrying requirement that simply can’t be met by ‘off the shelf’ trailer designs. With more than 40 years’ experience in trailer design, we can create a top-quality trailer for any load-carrying problem, whatever the shape, capacity or size.

Whatever the size, shape or capacity a trailer can be designed and manufactured to transport the load securely and safely. Each company’s requirements are different, our site survey (reference site survey sheet) will identify these needs and through our design and manufacturing process a solution can be provided, which ultimately will improve the working efficiency of any process. Our trailer specifications are built from a standard design platform (as listed below) with many options to suit all applications.The following design specification is in reference with the standard specification on the trailer costing data sheet

Chassis Construction

  • Rolled steel section fully welded

Platform Construction

Exterior grade plywood as standard with the lower capacity range, changing to keruing hardwood half lap with heavy duty applications, further options include:

  • Skeletal deck to accommodate load
  • Mild steel chequer plate

Steering

Single turntable (ball bearing) lock restricted to 45 degrees, further options include:

  • Twin turntable (interlinked)
  • Single Ackerman steering
  • Twin Ackerman steering

Axles / Hubs

Solid steel beam axles, front axle turntable mounted, rear axle fixed (single turntable configuration),
fitted with taper roller bearings. Beam dimensions and stud configurations are determined by load
capacity.

Wheels and Tyres

Tyres are selected from client’s requirements using factors such as load capacity and the surface
conditions in the existing environment, as standard pneumatic tyres are fitted, further options include:

  • Pneumatic shaped solid rubber
  • Pneumatic with foam fill
  • Press on band with rubber or polyurethane tyres

Drawbar / Towing eye

Single piece or hinged A frame construction with a towing eye to suit rear of towing vehicle,
further options include:

  • Slot in / removable to fit either end
  • T handle for manual operation
